Enhance and Publicize the process of garbage cleaning
We started with mapping the site (Dahisar Mangrove) through which we understood the temporal flows and what spatial conditions they produce. We were interested in the human flows at our site of intervention. Then coming up with the idea of a creating a workspace for the workers, where they could observe the garbage collection and keep their equipments but also make it accessible to the public.

The site is located at a sloping edge of the Dahisar river, which continues ahead into the mangroves. The site of intervention is the garbage cleaning machine and the 30 m stretch ahead of it. It is a muddy slope filled with garbage. It is accessed and inhabited by the B.M.C workers who clean the garbage from the water. The machine with the help of the conveyer belt pulls the garbage upwards and dumps it into the bin which is further collected by the garbage truck.

Flows
We worked with the human flows in which we came across various people who use the space for different purposes like drivers, mechanics, BMC workers and local people.
We specifically interacted with the BMC workers as we found the process of garbage cleaning interesting. We tried to understand their movements throughout the day and their work process of cleaning garbage from water.

Mechanic, Security guard, Local ladies, Car washers.
Local ladies, Mechanic, Driver, Watchman (feeding crows).
Fisherman (local boy), B.M.C workers.
School kids, Auto driver, Mechanic (Young boy).
B.M.C workers, Regular public.
Garage mechanic, Lady with her daughter, Auto driver, Walker.
We intended to make a design intervention that enhances the work of the BMC workers and creates a workspace for them. The intent was to provide them a space from where they could observe garbage collection as well as record the video which they need to submit everyday to the BMC. We tried to add a public dimension to the space for more interactions.

Model of the Intervention
This module brought a better understanding of spatial configurations. We learnt how architecture becomes an active part in the interconnections that alter certain relationships.
